Dinner to Celebrate Entry into Force of Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol (The Ministry of Environment Flickr - Sunday, 27 January 2019) -- Leading environmentalists, policy makers and philanthropists from around the world met at a dinner hosted by the Ministry of Environment in Rwanda to celebrate the entry into force of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. The amendment is considered the single most impactful step taken to address global climate change and will see hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), chemicals used in cooling appliances, replaced with environmentally-friendly alternatives. Visit to InspiraFarms Cold Rooms Facility - Kigali Amendment Celebration (The Ministry of Environment Flickr - Sunday, 27 January 2019) -- As part of activities marking the entry into force of the Kigali Amendment, guests visiting one of the ten InspiraFarms modular, solar-powered Food Processing and Refrigerated Storage Facilities that are being set up in six districts across four out of the five provinces of Rwanda. Each facility has a total area of 150 square meters that includes cold storage space, a processing area, an aggregation area, administrative and hygiene spaces, all running completely off-grid and in compliance with food safety standards. Restoring Gishwati-Mukura Landscape: Improving livelihoods while Promoting Tourism (Rwanda Environment Management Authority - Tuesday, 8 January 2019) -- The Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) through Landscape Approach to Forest Restoration and Conservation (LAFREC) project is rehabilitating Mukura-Gishwati landscape; including Gishwati and Mukura forests and surrounding areas.
