Rwanda Makes Tough Commitments At UN Climate Change Summit (Taarifa - Tuesday, 24 September 2019) -- The Un is facing a daunting task of pushing world leaders to decide the fate of the future of the universe and generations to come. Rwanda participated in the 11th High Level Assembly of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) on 22 September 2019 in New York. Environment Minister, Dr Vincent Biruta told the assembly that “Rwanda stands ready to support the CCAC efforts in this area and champion the need to improve energy efficiency during the HFC phase down to raise ambition and respond to the 1.5°C challenge.” Read More

REMA braced for urban recreational expansion with $5.2 m Eco Tourism Park (CNBC Africa - Tuesday, 24 September 2019) -- Rwanda Environment Management Authority in collaboration with City of Kigali under the National Urban Eco-tourism parks are executing a project of creating an eco-tourism Park worth about $5.2 million, that seeks to provide an urban recreational space, restore the hydrological functioning and increase its biodiversity. This World Gorilla Day, Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund Marks Conservation Comeback (Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International - Tuesday, 24 September 2019) -- As the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund begins its 53rd year, mountain gorillas are one of only a few conservation success stories in the world. Once expected be extinct by 2000, mountain gorillas have steadily increased in number for more than 30 years. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature recently upgraded mountain gorillas from critically endangered to endangered, putting them one step further from extinction. Read More
